Labor Relations

Our attorneys provide labor-related work to our public-sector clients including collective bargaining under Act 195 and Act 88. Members of the firm have served as Chief Negotiator for professional employee contracts, as well as contracts with custodians, secretaries, busdrivers, and other support staff and employees. In collective bargaining wherein the Administration or Board Members act as the negotiating team, we provide legal backup and input as directed. As Chief Negotiators, we are familiar with and have handled “early bird” settlements, the “win-win” concept, and traditional collective bargaining. Since the passage of Act 88, our firm’s attorneys have led the way in representing school districts under Act 88. Our attorneys were engaged in negotiating the first contract in which mediation, fact-finding, and non-binding arbitration under the provisions of Act 88 were utilized. We have continued to work with our clients in using the requirements of Act 88 to their advantage and have spearheaded the establishment of precedence setting cases favorable to school districts.

In addition to collective bargaining activities, we provide a full range of labor services in the following areas:

  • Contract Administration
  • Grievance Administration and Arbitration Hearings
  • Employee Discipline Cases
