Tax Assessments

Under Pennsylvania law, property taxes are the primary source of revenue for governments and school districts. The law requires that these tax assessments be fair and uniform.

With the school district’s permission, we review the tax assessment blotters for the school districts that we represent and recommend to the Board of School Directors properties we believe may be under-assessed.

If properties are under-assessed our experienced attorneys will file the appropriate appeal, work closely with a local appraiser retained by the Board of School Directors, handle the appeal at the Board of Property Assessment, Appeals and Review and at the Court of Common Pleas level, and handle any appeal to the Commonwealth Court or Pennsylvania Supreme Court. We have litigated tax appeals for virtually every type of property, including single-family residences; apartment complexes; office buildings; local, regional and super regional shopping malls; and industrial properties of all types, including electric-generating power plants.

Andrews & Price attorneys also assist property owners in seeking reductions of their over-assessed properties.
